The PCA puts on a fabulous show and all who attend walk away with
a sense of awe at all the work that goes into making this National
happen and all the spectacular Poodles that come to compete.
Unlike any other show of it's kind, the PCA brings in real sod to
carpet the ground and builds beautiful flower gardens in the rings.
The rings are surrounded by pretty, white picket fencing and it
truly is a sight to behold. On the Friday of the National when
all the Specials are in the ring together, it's the most amazing of
sights! 80 or more Standard Poodles Specials, groomed to
perfection and in peak condition, beautifully presented and lined up
all around the huge ring. It's enough to send chills down your
spine!
The National is held in Salisbury Maryland, normally in June but
will be held in April from 2008 onward due to the extreme heat
experienced the month of June which has often made the flying of
dogs into Maryland very difficult and sometimes even impossible .
Since many of the exhibitors come from far distances and have to fly
themselves and/or their dogs to the National, this has become a
problem. Holding the National in April will make it possible for
everyone to make it to PCA each year!
During the week of the National, Poodles in all three varieties
(Toy, Miniature and Standard) can compete in various venues.
Hunting/retrieving trials take place on the Saturday and Sunday,
Agility on Monday, Obedience on Tuesday, and conformation on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The National is a wonderful place to showcase your hard work and
effort as a Poodle breeder. It's a great educational tool for
the breeder also as it gives us the opportunity to see what other
breeders are producing, to see Poodles in person that we normally
only get to see in photos in magazines. It's a place to go and
do some research into possible stud dogs that are of interest to
you. To see these dogs and to see what they are producing is a
great opportunity. The National is also a great place for
friends to come together once a year, a reunion of sorts. It's
also a place where new friendships are forged, contacts are made
etc.
We truly believe in the importance of attending and even
exhibiting at the National each year when it's possible to do so.
Our Poodles have competed successfully at PCA in the past and
hopefully will continue to do well in the future. Hopefully
Tango Poodles will be well represented at the National for years to
come!
